Principal Message:

Please see the message below for important information regarding our December Fundraiser.

Students, Parents and Guardians,

Hillcrest High School Student Government is pleased to provide you with information about the upcoming December Fundraiser. Our goal for this month is to involve students in service and fundraising through a variety of events and activities. We will kick everything off with our “All-Day Assembly” on December 4th. This event replaces the various winter assemblies we have held in the past and will start the month with an exciting introduction to our charity and planned events. After being called into the gym at the start of the day, students will participate in various activities, events, and games that have been planned to fundraise for the charity that we have selected this year: The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

This foundation was established to provide the means to control the debilitating disorder, cystic fibrosis, and to potentially develop a cure. This disorder damages the respiratory and digestive system, requires extensive daily treatment to manage, and eventually kills everyone who suffers from it. It affects roughly 70,000 people worldwide, including multiple people at Hillcrest. By raising money for this charity with this assembly, we are hoping to not only contribute towards curing a devastating disease, but also to engage the Hillcrest student body in a global cause. Being an International Baccalaureate school, Hillcrest High School participates in an international study of the world, and learns about the problems affecting the global community. Therefore, at the assembly we will teach the students at Hillcrest about this international issue and about how each student has the ability to make a difference on the world stage.

We have a wide variety of events and activities planned for the day with an overall goal to raise enough money to continue the assembly throughout the entire school day. Students can participate in the assembly and cooperate to help this cause, regardless of whether they donate money or not. We do recommend that students bring money to participate in some of the activities prepared, but students can also donate their time through other service activities at the assembly such as creating holiday cards for deployed service members. The Student Body Officers are excited to bring the whole school together and give every single student a chance to make a difference!

Landon Nipko, Student Body President

The Hillcrest Administration encourages all students to participate in this event and is committed to providing students with valuable experiences that build reflective, balanced, and caring thinkers. Attendance will be taken throughout the day, and teachers will be supervising and participating in the assembly alongside students. A supervised study hall will be provided in rooms G103 and G105 for any students who prefer to use the school day for academic study time. While the overall goal of the assembly is to raise funds for a global cause, individual students can still participate and will not be penalized for not making monetary donations. Thank you for your continued support of all we do here at HHS.
